FINE ART PAPER/CANVAS
THE PROCESS
In order to produce the best possible reproduction prints of your artwork, there are three distinct operations that have to be undertaken, these being:
- SCANNING
Unless your artwork has been originated digitally*, you will need to have it scanned (digitized). We can obtain incredibly detailed scans from a wide variety of art materials and mediums, such as pencil drawings; oils on canvas; embroidery and tapestry work. Our high-end scanner is capable of scanning a picture as large as 31 x 43.7cm (12.2" x 17.2"). A picture larger than this can be scanned in several parts and later digitally reassembled (known as 'stitching'), however we will first need to evaluate the plausibility of the procedure in regards to the specific piece of artwork.
Artwork that cannot be scanned will need to be digitally photographed by a reputable repro photographer. Unfortunately we are currently unable to offer this service, however we are happy to advise you, or the photographer, as to our requirements for set-up and printing compatibility.
* NOTE: Before submitting any digitally created artwork, please enquire as to whether or not we are able to open and read the file (you may need to make a conversion), and that it meets our printing requirements
- SETUP
Once your artwork has been digitized, we print and colour match it to the original artwork. When we are satisfied with the results, we will present a reduced size printed proof to you for approval. Finally the approved repro image is prepared for print making
- PRINTING
All printing is undertaken on a 7 colour giclée printer, using Epson UltraChrome pigment based inks
